Requirements for Evangelism Certification
A certificate will be issued by the Department of Church Growth and Development of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to those who fulfill all the requirements of certification. The total number of certification hours needed to receive certification in the tracks are as follows:
- Basic Evangelism Certification 52 certification hours
- Evangelism Certification for Pastors 75 certification hours
- Evangelism Certification for Laity 82 certification hours
- Evangelism Certification in Children and Youth Evangelism 58 certification hours
- Evangelism Certification in Church Planting 61 certification hours
Each curriculum includes the completion of:
- 10 core courses, 4 electives, a practicum and a project for Basic Evangelism Certification
- 19 core courses and 6 electives for Evangelism Certification for Pastors
- 20 core courses, 4 electives, a practicum and a project for Evangelism Certification for Laity
- 12 core courses, 4 electives, a practicum and a project for Evangelism Certification in Children and Youth Evangelism
- 13 core courses, 4 electives, a practicum and a project for Evangelism Certification in Church Planting
Primary certification hours will be earned at the Annual Seminar on Church Growth and Development. A total of 15 hours can be earned at each Annual Seminar.
Additional 10 certification hours can be earned for local church evangelism work that must be verified to by the pastor of the local church.
Five (5) certification hours will be earned for an evangelism practicum approved by the Executive Director of the Department of Church Growth and Development AME Church.
Five (5) certification hours will be earned for an evangelism project, approved by the Executive Director of the Department of Church Growth and Development AME Church.
Each student must demonstrate mastery of course content before course completion is accomplished.
Each student MUST BE fully engaged in local church evangelism ministry, and complete approved practicum and projects in order to receive certification from the Department of Church Growth and Development AME Church.
